Position Purpose:
As a member of our Accounting team, you will prepare and file insurance premium tax returns. Your analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, practices and procedures will be used to monitor and/or reconcile assigned general ledger accounts of a complex nature, process complex accounting activity, resolve variances, and/or document procedures to ensure accuracy of accounting information and/or financial reports, and/or compliance with established rules and/or regulations.

Logistics: This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday – Friday in a typical office environment. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shifts during our normal business hours of 7:30 AM EST – 6:00 PM EST. This role is located at 1301 Gervais Street in Columbia, SC.

What You’ll Do:
• Prepare in depth annual, quarterly, and interim insurance premium tax returns, assessments, and other reporting.
• Prepare annual and quarterly withholding tax returns and/or payments.
• Ensure work conforms to all contract, business regulations and instructions.
• Reconcile General Ledger accounts and/or process adjusting journal entries in accordance with internal procedures, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. Review and/or provide support to related account reconciliation activities performed in other accounting areas (subsidiary ledgers).
• Interface with internal and/or external agencies to include state and federal government offices.

To Qualify for This Position, You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree Accounting or related degree with 24 semester hours in accounting (related degree must be bachelor’s level).
Five (5) years of accounting experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
Possess excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently.
Detail oriented.
Microsoft Office (strong Excel experience preferred)
Ability to use data retrieval applications.
