All courses from last week (Cash Management [SMMG02, LIMG02] and Managing Risk in Business and Industry [SMMG03 and LIMG03]) have been reconciled. If you have not received your certificate, please contact CPE Assistant Alex Pierce by phone at 803.791.4181 ext. 409 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
The CPE team is continuing to smooth out the details for November’s Fall Fest Accounting Conference. Because of the size of the conference and the layout of the venue, we are encouraging those who are planning to attend to please register and pick out sessions as soon as possible.
The Communications and Membership teams are shifting focus from retention to recruitment. With All Inclusive Membership, we know CPAs across the state are excited at the potential of membership with the only organization in South Carolina that protects the profession. Join SCACPA today!
Spreading profession-related news regarding Hurricane Florence has been and will continue to be a top priority for the entire SCACPA staff, particularly the Communications team. Month of Service is just around the corner and t-shirt designs are almost finalized! A scholarship fund in memory of former SCACPA President H. McRoy Skipper, CPA, was launched in conjunction with October’s 2018 Month of Service, and the t-shirts should be available for purchase soon.
SCACPA Advocacy has been hard at work the past week making sure those affected by Hurricane Florence and the mandatory evacuation orders received a tax deadline extension. As of Monday, September 17, President Trump issued a major federal disaster declaration for the following South Carolina counties: Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Organgeburg and Williamsburg. Please note we have Public Assistance, Individual Assistance is being reviewed. The IRS bases relief on Individual Assistance. All the latest updates can be found here.
We recognize we must find a solution to disaster-related tax extensions and are actively working on crafting a solution at the State level.
A Conformity Committee Meeting is scheduled for early this week. Conformity updates can be found on the SCACPA blog.
