SCACPA’s Advocacy activities this past week were highlighted by CEO Chris Jenkins and Board member Ken Newhouse meeting with House Ways and Means Committee Chairman W. Brian White (R-Anderson). Conformity issues were discussed in detail, and we were able to answer questions about the issue. The talks included our description of the effects to South Carolina if there is no Conformity. We thank Chairman White for his time, and we are glad he heard our concerns.
The membership team added 7 new student members last week. We look forward to adding many more in the coming weeks!
Content Strategist Gregory Hardy and VP of Membership and Communications Lisa McGee have continued working on course descriptions for the upcoming CPE schedule.
Greg is also working diligently to complete all interviews and articles for our upcoming publication, the CPA Report.
Membership and Communications Coordinator Jasmine has been working with the nominees for SCACPA’s Board of Directors to ensure they have guidance and all necessary information.
Jasmine is also working on next weeks Chapter Connections for Grand Strand and Pee Dee.
Membership Experience Assistant Brook has been working on the layout for a fold-out informational page in our CPA Report. This will focus on our Spring Splash Accounting Conference.
The first SC DOR course is this week on March 15. Staff will be available during the course in case any participants need assistance.
CPE Manager Renee Allen-Joye has made great progress in securing speakers for the Spring Splash. She is simultaneously working to secure speakers and facilities for the upcoming CPE year.
Bookkeeper Melissa Gable is researching what the process is like to attain Enrolled Agent credits for some of our courses.
CFO Jacque Curtin is working on the Chapter Communications Guide. This will help our chapter leadership achieve their goals to connect with members.
We continue to promote chapter events such as, the Catawba Chapter’s Meet the Mayor Event on March 22, the Central Chapter’s Meet Your Legislator Event on March 29 and the Central Chapter’s Family Day at Saluda Shoals on May 12.
