SCACPA continues to push for the adoption of Conformity Bill H. 5162; introduced by House Ways and Means Committee Chair Brian White (R-Anderson). Advocating for this bill would be much harder without our Key Person Contacts to speak with local legislators and voice their concerns. Thank you to them and our members who have spoken up on the issue.
CEO Chris Jenkins, VP of Membership and Communications Lisa McGee and CFO Jacque Curtin will all be attending the “Meet Your Legislators” Event this week at the Blue Marlin in Columbia’s Vista, where the main topic of discussion will be Tax Conformity.
Checks for the PAC fund have been going out and our Key Person Contacts have been sending in photos of themselves getting to shake hands and deliver the check.
Chris had a great time teaching a class at Winthrop University last week. He asked students to share what their concerns were when it came to the CPA profession. This led to helpful discussion and feedback that we can use when growing the student pipeline, as well as adding student members to our organization.
Lisa and Jacque had a successful phone call with the Bankers Association last week, they will be helping to promote some of our events.
Jacque is also looking forward to attending a meeting that will focus on strong accounting programs and training teachers to build the profession using these programs.

Gregory has also been pushing out press releases on our Tax Conformity journey and writing up member emails/blog items on this issue as well.
