The Advocacy Team scored another victory on behalf of a SCACPA member. We were alerted Tuesday morning that the Department of Employment and Workforce customer service phone operators were giving conflicting instructions as to whether SUITS information had to be submitted electronically or on paper when filing on behalf of firms that have fewer than 100 members. Within 24 hours, we held a teleconference with DEW decision-makers, and they confirmed that the instructions given to our member over the phone were incorrect. They were also able to listen to our other concerns, such as overlong wait times to be in contact with their phone operators. When SCACPA members alert us to problems with organizations and regulators, we are able to quickly take actions that get positive results.
CEO Chris and Board Member Dr. Clarence Coleman attended a SCBOA meeting this week.
So far this month SCACPA has managed to grow our student pipeline by adding 29 new student members to the organization!
The communications team has been working diligently to put together membership renewal packets. They have recruited the entire staff to help (when they can) with the assembly line set-up of packet stuffing. This is quite the task considering each packet starts with a folder stuffed with a membership brochure, Spring Splash Accounting Conference flyer and CPE registration form. Next, each packet needs printed address labels and individualized letter from Chris.
Chris, Membership Experience Assistant Brook and IT and Communications Assistant Jeff have all been busy creating new pages for our website and then moving/updating original content.
The Spring Splash Accounting Conference is less than a month away! Make sure to sign up before all the seats are full.
Our two new May courses, Auditing Under the New Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) – Yellow Book and GASB Update – Yellow Book with an original date of May 21 and 22 will be rescheduled. Stay tuned for the new dates!
