SCACPA was proud to be a presenting co-sponsor of the University of South Carolina’s FAD (Friends of Accounting) Fall Kick-Off reception on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Stone River along the West Columbia Riverwalk.
Those who attended were greeted by remarks by School of Accounting Chair Mark Cecchini and Darla Moore School of Business Dean Peter Brews, who praised the rigor of the accounting curriculum and talked of upcoming advances in the incorporation of artificial intelligence by saying “Data is the new currency.”
The event also promoted the Moore School’s online mentoring network for alumni and students, MooreConnect.com. SCACPA salutes all accounting professionals who take the initiative to mentor and motivate students.
There was also a raffle for an assortment of prizes, including tickets to the Moore School’s upcoming fourth annual Shuck & Shag oyster roast for alumni, faculty, staff and friends on Friday, Sept. 7.
