The long-awaited SECURE Act is a new tax law that was passed on Dec. 20, 2019. Part of a larger appropriations bill, it is being considered the most significant retirement legislation from Congress in more than a decade.

In SCACPA’s dedication to delivering to members “just in time” education, we are proud to announce that the CPE course “SECURE Act – New Legislation” will be delivered both in-person (SMTX40) at our Cayce office and as a convenient livestream option (LITX40).

The class will be presented on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, from 8:30-10:20 a.m., conducted by E. Lynn Nichols, CPA.

The SECURE legislation — “Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement” — puts into place many provisions intended to boost retirement security.

Every tax professional about to prepare tax returns for 2019 – especially those who deal with estate planning, IRA distribution, and required minimum distributions – needs to understand the SECURE Act. It will impact millions of taxpayers and potentially result in consequential changes to estate plans.
