  • For those of you who have yet to renew for 2020-21, time is running out! We are periodically sending email reminders so that you don’t risk an interruption of benefits of advocacy and networking. Everyone should have received a dues renewal packet in the mail, which included your 2020-21 membership card and the “Grow Your Association” pamphlet. We look forward to your reaffirmation of your commitment to the CPA credential.
  • SCACPA is the only organization in the state that protects and promotes the CPA profession.
  • Once you’ve renewed your membership and have your new 40-hour CPE Bank, you can start enrolling for all the learning and knowledge opportunities we have for you in 2020-21 beginning July 1, and we’ll be mailing CPE postcards soon with a list of highlights. Meanwhile, you can check our online CPE calendar for a look at any of the 12 livestream CPE courses SCACPA is offering for July.
  • SCACPA is proud to announce three winners of our AICPA Scholarships Award! Jessica Outlaw of South Carolina State University, Kenisha Robinson of Winthrop University and Frederick Uy of Clafin University each received $5,000.
  • ATTENTION STUDENTS: Our deadline for other SCACPA Student Scholarships has been extended to June 30. Did you know SCACPA awarded more than $40,000 in student scholarships last year? Awards are intended for juniors, seniors and graduate students, and amounts can range from $500 to $2,500. Apply today!

  • The Governmental Affairs Committee, chaired by former SCACPA president Cheryl Lang, CPA, met via online conferencing with the Department of Revenue and the Board of Accountancy earlier in the month. SCACPA thanks our regulatory partners for all their hard work, and watch SCACPA communications news and updates as it is our hope some form of Conformity can be passed in September.

  • SCACPA’s online interview with South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce Chief Administrative Officer Jamie Suber regarding your questions about online filing has nearly 2,800 views on YouTube. Continue to post your comments and follow-up questions on SCACPA Connect, and we will work to get you answers. Your membership elevates SCACPA’s ability to vocalize your needs and protect your interests through communicating with our regulatory partners in times of change.


  • Throughout June, we are featuring an incredible selection of CPE, including our planned in-person Spring Splash tracks of Business and Industry, Government, Nonprofit, Ethics and Variety. SCACPA is committed to delivering livestream CPE to you at your location with these additional selections, as we bring you more than 30 online courses for more than 65 hours of learning.
  • The June calendar keeps growing with two new Tax courses announced for Wednesday, June 24:  “Catching Up on Cost Segregation: A Current Look at Accelerated Property Depreciation” (LITX62) and “1031 Property Exchanges via Passive Ownership – Capital Gains and Depreciation Recapture Deferral” (LITX63).

  • All Virtual Spring Splash courses have been reconciled and you should have received your certificates. If you still have questions about your Virtual Spring Splash credits, contact the SCACPA staff at 803.791.4181.
  • Thank you to the more than 200 of you registered for the full two-day, two tracks of learning Virtual Spring Splash, and that number goes past 400 when we count how many of you attended individual sessions. To deliver a side-by-side Tax track and A&A track required us for the first time in SCACPA history to deliver content on simultaneous classrooms, and we adjusted on the fly and made the experience work for everyone.   • SCACPA’s CPE Committee of 16 met (via online conferencing) to put the finishing touches on the 2020-21 CPE schedule, which will be unveiled as part of our membership dues renewal period.
