Great news for our Student Members: You can participate in a FREE Virtual Mock CPA Exam on Thursday, Jan., 28 from 1-5 p.m. SCACPA and Surgent CPA Review have partnered and combined resources to offer a simulated CPA Exam section of your choice. The goal is to simulate the format of taking the CPA Exam, using actual multiple-choice questions and simulations that are laid out according to the Uniform CPA Examination Blueprints. You can experience a simulated exam section from your home, plus be able to view your exam results in real time, and giving you a better understanding of how prepared you are to sit for the actual exam. Candidates will receive their ReadySCORE along with a diagnostic report showing areas of strength and weakness as aligned with the CPA Exam Blueprints. SCACPA and the South Carolina Board of Accountancy are partnering to remind CPAs that this year’s firm renewal process will address this question as new regulations are in effect. The purpose is that there is an accounting for custody of client records.
SCACPA is preparing again for another round of the RAP Index Survey, which is an important tool that helps us grow our advocacy programs and advance our positions on the issues that impact South Carolina CPAs. Your voice is influential in your community as an employee, voter and volunteer, and you can let us know about the issues important to you. You will also help us identify the stakeholders within your network and the level of advocacy you are willing to undertake.
The Governmental Affairs Team held its quarterly meeting in November. The Team meet virtually with representatives from the Department of Employment and Workforce, Board of Accountancy and Department of Revenue. Thank you to all our regulatory partners who are open for business and ready to assist you. Upcoming GA plans included a review of our upcoming 2021 Legislator’s Tax Guide so that it will be ready when State House opens a new two-year cycle in January.
