A Tax Conformity Bill sponsored by House Speaker Jay Lucas (R-Darlington), House Ways and Means Committee Chairman G. Murrell Smith Jr. (R-Sumter) and Leon Stavrinakis (D-Charleston) was introduced on Thursday, Feb 14. (UPDATE: On Wednesday, Feb. 27, the Conformity bill received a unanimous 102-0 second reading in the House. It is expected to get third reading on Thursday, Feb. 28, and go to Senate).

H.3985 was placed on the calendar without reference, which would allow consideration of the bill by the full House of Representatives as early as next week. An official fiscal impact statement is being finalized.
