The South Carolina Department of Revenue has announced that the latest South Carolina per capita income figure is $42,736 in its Information Letter dated April 3, 2019.

The purpose of the DOR’s advisory opinion is to aid taxpayers in determining qualification for incentives and exemptions. You can view Information Letter 19-11 here. The DOR receives the figures from the South Carolina Board of Economic Advisors.

This is an increase of $1,103 over the previous state per capita income figure of $41,633.

Many South Carolina income, sales and use, and property tax incentives require jobs associated with the incentive to meet state or county per capita personal income requirements to determine qualification for, or the amount of, the particular incentive.

The DOR publishes state per capita income figures twice per year, typically in March and September.
