The mission of the S.C. Association of CPAs is to empower our members to grow professionally. Since the association was chartered in 1915, we have grown with our members. S.C. passes CPA law
S.C. Association of CPAs chartered
A.C. Clarkson issued CPA Certificate No. 1
April 24, 1915, first CPA exam held
July 1, 1915 Annual license fee set at $2 payable to Board of Examiners
Oct. 7, 1915, Certificate No.1 of Membership awarded to Louis A. Searson

                     

1920

   

S.C. Board of Examiners begins using AIA exam and issues first certificate by reciprocity

                     

1921

   

First regular annual meeting held Oct. 8, 1921

                     

1924

   

Hosted Southeastern Regional Convention at Charleston Hotel, Charleston S.C.
Board of Examiners holds first hearing on unprofessional conduct charges. SC certificate No. 50 issued

                     

1927

   

Columbia Chapter (Central) formed
First scholarship in amount of $50 awarded to J. Wesley Hunt

                     

1929

   

First female CPA Josephine Gealow (#69)

Attendance at annual meeting was up to 13

S.C. passes the S.C. Uniform Limited Liability Act

SCACPA Board of Directors commits to pursuing legislation to allow CPAs to expand services in are of financial consulting

Practice Mobility Act passed
Francis A. Humphries Scholarship established
CPA Practice Mobility legislation initiated by SCACPA, passes in S.C. House
