Tax Relief Update

September 13, 2017

The South Carolina Association of CPAs continues to explore all avenues to get tax relief for CPAs who were impacted by Hurricane Irma.  Unfortunately, it does not appear that a deadline extension will be granted at this time.  Due to the amount of destruction in the United States from Hurricane Harvey, Western Wildfires and Hurricane Irma, it is unlikely that South Carolina will receive a Disaster Declaration from FEMA before September 15th.

SCACPA will continue communicating regularly with the IRS, our legislators and the Governor’s Office to address the issue of tax extensions for those who have experienced mandatory evacuations, extended loss of power and flooding. We urge you to contact your local legislators as well.

Firms can also apply for assistance though the AICPA Benevolent Fund, which assists member experiencing financial difficulty.
