Refund Status

Taxpayers can check their refund status online at dor.sc.gov/refund or by calling 803-898-5300. They will need the last five digits of their Social Security number and their expected refund amount.

Processing Time

Taxpayers can expect to receive their refund generally within two to four weeks of their filing date.

Extensions for Filing SC Individual Taxes

Taxpayers needing more time to file their South Carolina Individual Income Tax Return may request an extension online with SCnetFile or by paper with Form SC4868. SCnetFile offers a quick, easy, and secure way to file a South Carolina Request for Extension of Time to File.

Note: this is an extension of time to file, not an extension of time to pay. This extension applies to a South Carolina return only, not a federal return.

The SCDOR has released a new series of Corporate Tax tutorials explaining the basics of filing, payment, and administrative requirements for Corporate taxes in South Carolina. The basic level tutorials are available now. More advanced tutorials geared toward tax preparers will be added soon.
