Is our economy moving to the fast lane?  This session will focus on major economic forces that are playing through our national and regional economies.  Attention will be devoted to what we can expect to see in the next 12 to 18 months for GDP growth, employment, and economic development in South Carolina. Tax season is over and it’s time to re-group and prepare for the rest of this year.  In our time together we will look at techniques related to interviewing in order to maximize the quality and quantity of information obtained during the process.  And more importantly, truthful information.  We have all been in interactions where we questioned the veracity of what we were being told, and today we will look at some actions we can take in our interviews to have greater success and confidence in what we learn.  We are looking to add “tools to your tool belt” in the interviewing arena be it an audit, accounting work, interacting with sales people, or dealing with your kids.  We will examine consistency in approach, the need for rapport, the application of good questioning techniques, the necessity of themes to help the interviewee to be truthful, and the skills necessary to handle and minimize denials.    Training Objectives 1. Understand the importance of consistency in interviewing. 2. Identify the reasons for and the necessity of rapport. 3. Identify different question types for success. 4. Describe the reasons why there is a need to theme. 5. Describe the skills necessary to minimize denials. Most accountants use Excel to help them make decisions about their data. However, as the amount of data grows, it becomes difficult to make strategic decisions based on rows and rows and columns and columns of data. In this course, you will learn how to build robust dashboards for analyzing key metrics in Excel.  Speaker: John Higgins

This course covers the laws, rules, and regulations that apply to the licensure of accountants in the State of South Carolina, as well as those that apply to the practice of accounting in the State of South Carolina. This course is designed to meet the South Carolina Board of Accountancy regulation that requires two hours of CPE related to South Carolina Rules and Regulations. This course is approved for the 2016 - 2018 SC Rules and Regulations Ethics Requirement. Speaker: David Peters

After you attend this class, you will be in the know!  This session will teach you how to build spreadsheets that validate the accuracy of your calculations and techniques to use the Data Validation feature to validate data entry.
