The survey covers key practice management issues that will allow your firm to compare its management policies and financial results to other firms, and gain strategic guidance to build a more profitable and rewarding practice. Additionally, survey results will help accounting firms benchmark themselves against other comparably-sized firms their region and to national averages.

Content for the bi-annual CPA firm benchmarking survey received a number of revisions and improvements in 2008 in response to participant feedback from previous years. The 2010 survey maintains these improvements while incorporating updated content and questions to reflect practice management issues facing practitioners today.

Each participant will receive a free summary report that contains an extract of key performance metrics from the survey – such as billing rates, salaries, hours charged/compensated, services as a percentage of fees, major income statement statistics and more. The comprehensive report, available for purchase and free to PCPS members, will include every performance metric gathered by the survey crossed against many relevant comparison groups.  It will also contain additional ratios and analyses of statistics.

The PCPS/TSCPA National MAP Survey is one of the largest CPA firm practice management benchmarking projects in existence.  Participants have been able to access targeted and relevant practice management benchmarks including billing rates, chargeability ratios, compensation, and other key performance indicators -- as well as strategic guidance from practice management leaders.  The value of these benchmarks depends on broad participation among CPA firms like yours.

Content for the bi-annual CPA firm benchmarking survey received a number of revisions and improvements in 2008 in response to participant feedback from previous years. Improvements included streamlining the survey to make it quicker and easier for participants to take and a shift in the survey fielding to earlier in the year. The 2010 survey maintains these improvements while incorporating additional updated content and questions to reflect practice management issues facing practitioners today.

To access the 2010 PCPS/TSCPA National MAP Survey’s comparison data, you will need to participate. In addition to the free summary report, PCPS member participants will receive an interactive report with data tailored to firm size and region. If your firm is not yet a PCPS member, you can join for $35 per CPA (maximum $700). Non-members can purchase results reports for $300 (survey participants receive a $100 discount; AICPA members receive an additional $100 discount.) The PCPS/TSCPA National MAP Survey is one more way that PCPS is working to make practicing CPAs and their firms successful.
