South Carolina CPA Report Magazine Author Guidelines

To prepare an article or column for an upcoming issue of the South Carolina CPA Report magazine, contact the SCACPA offices.  A member of the Editorial Board who severs as content/column coordinator may be in touch with you to finalize arrangements.

Features

The CPA Report features are 1,200 words and cover current events, news within the profession and special interest topics. Features appear in each issue to provide in-depth coverage of hot topics and developing issues. Recent topics include trends in tax season, practice management, the CPA pipeline, students and education and sustainability and the CPA.

Columns

One-to-two page columns address specific topic areas, some of which appear in every issue while others appear on a rotating basis. Typically, columns run about 600 words. Five to eight columns appear in each issue, providing a brief discussion of specific topic areas.

Author Checklist

  • Contact the SCACPA Publications Team at (803) 791-4181 to discuss potential topics to find out who your column coordinator would be.
  • Submit article or column at required length: 
    Feature Report: No more than 1,200 words 
    Column: No more than 600 words
  • Submit articles as an e-mail attachment to kswartz@scacpa.org
  • Be sure to include the following on the top left corner of the first page: 
    Name 
    Phone number 
    Mailing address 
    E-mail address
  • Also include a brief biography (three to four sentences) that includes your job title and place of employment. All authors are required to submit a color photo in high resolution format (JPEG; MS Word, GIF and PNG are not accepted).

You may submit articles or article concepts at any time for consideration by the Editorial Board. We will accept unsolicited articles, but when articles are sent directly to SCACPA they are forwarded to the appropriate Editorial Board members. Board members will contact authors if they are interested in using the article. There is no guarantee as to when the article will be published.

We encourage you to follow the procedures described above to ensure timeliness and efficiency.
