WIIFY: What's In It for You?

Voluntarism: You as a CPA and we as an Association and profession have an opportunity to make a huge impact and difference.

Public confidence in CPAs continues to be very strong: your community will listen and respond to you as a CPA.

Position yourself and your firm as an expert, authority and resource.

Not to mention: public relations and marketing opportunities - client leads and referrals.

Better yet, why NOT???
SCACPA is committed to seeing that all South Carolinians are financially literate and understand the importance of managing their finances responsibly. Our financial literacy visits are a great way to introduce these important concepts to GED candidates, and contribute to the efforts to improve financial literacy statewide. In addition, the profession is depending on you to inspire bright, talented students to discover the integrity, trust and career diversity that is the CPA profession.

Are You Ready?

Teach a personal finance lesson on money management, careers, budgeting, savings and investing, managing credit or insurance. Most presentations last 50-60 minutes and all volunteers receive curriculum guides and visual aids. Each student receives a financial literacy student workbook. In addition, we encourage all volunteers to show the “MoneyTalks” and “Bring it On” DVDs.

Dear (name of teacher/director):

I greatly appreciate your allowing me to speak before your class to promote financial literacy. Encouraging students to develop responsible money management skills at a young age is an important part of the maturation process, and I'm grateful for the opportunity you gave me to see that they have vital information. If you or your students would like more information about basic financial planning, please give me a call.

Since you have new students each year, I'd like to contact you annually to speak to your class. Not only do I enjoy promoting financial literacy, but I also enjoy meeting and talking with young people who are about to enter "the real world."

Thank you for your efforts to educate our youth. I look forward to working with you again.

Sincerely,
